Engineer Edmund James Palmer Norton arrives in Argentina from the UK to help build a railway across the Andes and falls in love with the terroir of Mendoza. Making a dramatic change, he decided to found his own vineyard in Luján de Cuyo with vines imported from France.
Bodega Norton has five vineyards spread over the main terroirs of the province of Mendoza in, foothills of the Andes Mountains, all of them within a privileged zone known as the First Zone for the quality of its grapes. In Mendoza perched at 1,100m above sea level, this vineyard is unusual due to its sheer size: 1,045 cultivable hectares, of which 450 are planted with all the varieties of grape that are produced in the winery and have an average age of 17 years old.
