Dominique Piron Morgon Cote du Py is probably the most famous climat in Beaujolais, located on the bluestone slopes of Mont Brouilly. Piron’s eight hectares of Gamay vines here average 60 years old, imbuing his wine with concentrated, tangy red fruit. This is a full, astringent style with some noticeable brett and a lift of pure violet, leading into a warm and peppery finish. Not your typical Beaujolais, but a great alternative to a Pinot from the Côte-d’Or.
