Joseph Perrier Cuvee Josephine Champagne Gift Box, 2014

£170.99

The Maison Joseph Perrier reinvents the mythical silk-screen print of the Josephine Champagne cuvée. With modernity and an impetus for renewal, this vintage 2014, essentially composed of our best grape varieties, continues to celebrate the marriage of Josephine Perrier across the ages.

The color of this wine approaches a very bright golden yellow. Subtle and inspiring, revealing dried nut aromas such as lightly grilled hazelnuts, the promise of elegance and complexity to come. The palate begins on juicy ripe pears and other white fruits, followed by delicately dusted notes of lily of the valley, complemented by spicy and peppery flavors. A subtle, bewitching, complex palate with a very good length. Very good length.

Josephine Champagne 2014 is the perfect combination with a cod risotto with aniseed cream or a tartar of sea bream and oyster.

THE REGION

Champagne is a sparkling wine originated and produced in the Champagne wine region of France under the rules of the appellation,[1] which demand specific vineyard practices, sourcing of grapes exclusively from designated places within it, specific grape-pressing methods and secondary fermentation of the wine in the bottle to cause carbonation.

The grapes Pinot noirPinot meunier, and Chardonnay are used to produce almost all Champagne, but small amounts of Pinot blancPinot gris (called Fromenteau in Champagne), Arbane, and Petit Meslier are vinified as well.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Champagne Joseph Perrier is a family owned, family run Grande Marque House founded in 1825 in Chalons en Champagne. It is run today by Benjamin Fourmon who is the sixth generation of his family to do so, since taking over from Joseph Perrier in 1888. The winery and cellars are in the city of Chalons with 3kms of galleries dug into the chalk where the champagnes are aged. With vineyards in Cumieres, Hautvillers, Damery and Verneuil the style is fresh and approachable with great appeal.
