Château Malartic La Graviere 2007
£33.00
A top name in Pessac-Léognan with superb vineyards predominantly on the gravel soils giving great drainage and suiting the Cabernet Sauvignon perfectly.
After a cool start, the Indian summer made this vintage although it was harvested later than usual. A quite classically styled claret with a sensible 13% alcohol will appeal to those traditionalists. Equal quantities of Merlot and Cabernet are used here with a small amount of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
Again drinking very well now and should last another 5 years or so yet. The nose is particularly notable for the perfume and rich dark fruits. The palate offers the crunchy, stony character alongside subtle woody notes and blackcurrant notes.
