Cahors Malbec, Mission de Picpus

Elegant, beautifully made, yet bursting with dark fruit, including cherries and blackberries, smoky liquorice, lightly oaked with silky tannins. Stunning!

The joint owners Hervé Fabre and Pierre Montmayou are Malbec experts in Argentina, and in a glorious twist, have started a new venture in Cahors, just next to Bordeaux. In France, Malbec tends to be seen as a Bordeaux blending grape , in Cahors, its ancestral home, it is up front and centre. In a lovely reverse engineer, all the expertise learnt in that bastion of Malbec, Argentina is being brought to bear in France, and the resultant intensity and depth is breath-taking. Dark, rich and packed with flavour.

International Wine Challenge ‘This is a beautiful example of Cahors with fresh black cherry and blackberry fruit. This is inky and wild with good structure under the flesh.’
