Beaujolais Villages, Maison Piron 2020

The grapes from the 50 year old vines (remarkable in itself for a wine of this price) are picked by hand and then partly destemmed. Semi-carbonic fermentation of 10 days maximum then aging in tank & concrete to retain freshness.
Lovely berry fruit, soft and plump texture and some sous bois savoriness, this punches well above its weight.
Why we love this:
Wine to put a smile on your face. As noted on Jancis Robinson:
"The wine, metaphorically, leapt out the glass at me, beaming, ‘Pick me! Pick me!’"
